With such a growing need for a store in our area that would cater to cat and dog items, as well as great gift ideas for animal-lovers, Peggy Andretz and Tanya Burtis, a mother-daughter team decided to establish “Reigning Cats & Dogs”. After remodeling the former Waxhaw Animal Hospital building, Reigning Cats & Dogs Pet Boutique opened after Thanksgiving Day of 2004, and has been growing since.
Continued growth in all areas and the overall increase in daily clientele, allowed for the offering of grooming services in June of 2005. We have continued to seek out the best quality gifts that are unique, useful and enjoyable for your pets, as well as healthy treats and all-natural foods. You definitely will find something new every month in our boutique!
We have been featured at different times in “The Charlotte Observer”, “Cats and Dogs of Charlotte”, at the Homearama, and recently in “South Park Magazine.”

The Spa
Our groomers works in conjunction with Waxhaw Animal Hospital, as part of our special relationship, which is why we are so easily able to offer special services for our mutual clients, such as sedation grooming, early drop-offs, grooming after boarding stays, plus arranging grooming around your veterinary appointments, or any other special need you may have.
The Pantry
We keep our pantry full of nutritious food and treats for your furry friends. We specialize in high-quality pet foods.
Wellness and Merrick are our preferred foods which we order weekly to have in stock for our customers. Both foods are all natural with no food coloring or preservatives, made in the USA and have not been subjected to any “recalls”!
Healthy pets are our goal!
We also stock many treats for your pets including: Wellbar Treats, Old Mother Hubbard, Zukes, Cloud Star, & Merrick all natural bones and chews!
The Boutique
We have items you won’t see many other places. Most of our merchandise is handcrafted, handpainted, or handknitted.
